Sanctified - the book trailer

The Reason, The Timing

Originally written as part of the National Novel Writing Month Challenge (NaNoWriMo) in November of 2013, Jami Hunt-Williams insists she does her best work under pressure.
"That's the thing that drives people absolutely crazy about me," she laughed. "But it's the way that I have to work because the pressure makes me reach a little deeper." And reach deep she did.
Drawing on her experience growing up in a small town, Williams admits the town of Black Creek was based on her hometown of Shelbyville. "But that's where the reality factor ends," Williams explained. "The rest of it came from bits and pieces of stories and experiences that I have gleaned from other people and places... and of course, my imagination."
The story Williams weaves is actually a tale that she considers an allegory. "Secrets are the universal leveler; everybody has one or two and whether you are hiding something you have done or something that has been done to you, it is those secrets that are buried so deeply that end up shaping your surface," she reflected. "This story is about that, and about redemption and salvation from yourself."
And as personal as the story is, the reason behind finally choosing to publish the story is just as personal. "I lost my Mom in October... she was just the most amazing person, my best friend. She always told me that I was already a writer, so I might as well become a publisher... so I did," Williams smiled through the tears slowly forming at the corners of her eyes. "This is the first of many... but this one belongs to her."
